The aesthetic thoughtfully nods to New York’s timeless appeal and the allure of midcentury modernism, inspired by masters like Gio Ponti.

Guest rooms at The Manner offer a unique blend of nostalgia and modern sophistication. A deliberate absence of televisions encourages guests to fully immerse themselves in the experience and the captivating views. The midcentury modern theme is subtly woven throughout the 97 rooms and suites.
Our Deluxe Corner King Room featured a long, velvet couch positioned beneath a custom-designed chandelier. Warm, vibrant colors complemented retro touches like a lacquered red headboard, echoing the lobby staircase, and glimmering gold accents played beautifully with a mix of textures. It was a space designed for comfort and visual delight.
The king-size bed, dressed in soft white linens, was exceptionally comfortable – quickly earning a place among the best hotel beds experienced. Just off the bedroom, the bathroom offered a chic, sleek contrast with dark-veined marble, dimmable lighting, and luxurious Costa Brazil bath products.
Though compact, the bathroom provided everything needed for a relaxing two-night stay. It was a testament to the hotel’s commitment to thoughtful design, maximizing both style and functionality.
The Manner’s culinary offerings are a destination in themselves. With three distinct dining outlets, a guest-only lounge, and in-room dining, there’s a wealth of experiences packed into this relatively intimate hotel. The food exceeded expectations, making a return visit solely for the dining experience tempting.
Sloan’s, the hotel’s cocktail bar, exudes a seductive and intimate atmosphere. Stepping through a velvet curtain feels like discovering a hidden haven for those seeking discreet conversation and expertly crafted cocktails – perhaps a dirty martini with a dozen oysters. The interiors are rich with sumptuous fabrics and a sleek bar set against a wall adorned with gold leaf.
The menu at Sloan’s is surprisingly playful for such an elevated setting. Oysters on the half shell, chicken nuggets, and beef sliders with American cheese were all delightful surprises. It was a menu that encouraged lingering and savoring the moment.
The Otter, the hotel’s primary restaurant, promises a charming neighborhood experience with chef Alex Stupak’s seafood-focused menu. Inspired by New York’s heritage, the French Riviera, and Italian modernism, the restaurant’s murals create a stunning backdrop.
Breakfast in bed is always a pleasure, but The Manner’s in-room dining truly elevates the experience. The food arrived hot, expertly prepared, and bursting with flavor. Classics like cappuccinos, poached eggs, chicken sausage, and mixed berries were perfectly executed.
Dinner in the room was equally impressive, with a lemony Caesar salad and dry-aged NY strip steak proving to be exceptional choices. However, the true star was the Boston cream pie – a life-changing dessert that remains fondly remembered.
Exclusive access adds to the allure of The Manner. The Rooftop and The Apartment are reserved solely for guests, offering unique spaces to unwind and socialize. The Rooftop, with its retro-chic seating, provides breathtaking views of Manhattan.
The Apartment, described as a “private social sanctuary,” feels like a stylish living room, filled with coffee table books, mirrored walls, eclectic design pieces, and comfortable seating. It’s a versatile space for relaxation or conversation, offering a signature Negroni during aperitivo hours.
The Manner’s location on a quiet block of Thompson Street offers a peaceful retreat while remaining close to the vibrant heart of Soho. Iconic restaurants like Dante, Balthazar, and Sadelle’s are just a short walk away, as are numerous art galleries, including The Judd Foundation and The Drawing Center.
